Formation of Cave Stones

Jun 10,2025

The color tone of cave stones is mostly beige, which gives a gentle and rich texture, with clear stripes, promoting strong cultural and historical charm in decorated buildings, and is used in many buildings around the world. The interior and exterior decoration of the Bank of China Building located at Xidan Road intersection in Beijing, designed by the American architectural firm Belluming, chose Italian Roman travertine and shared 20000 square meters. Why not call it marble? It's because its texture and appearance are completely different from traditional marble, so it's a convention in the decoration industry. It is generally believed that its formation is a calcareous material that precipitates from carbonate containing springs (usually hot springs) under atmospheric conditions.
